Can anyone give me a good tips to save budget for wedding?
Hi.
I am newly engaged and having a wedding next august.
As I started to planing, I was freaked out how much I have to pay for my dream wedding!!
It will be small. Around 50 peoples.
Been looking at venues and receptions.or other needy stuffs.
Can anyone advice me what part of wedding can be
cut the budget?
(ps/ our budget is $5000- not so sure even it enough money to entertain guests or so:;(. )
Don’t fret the small stuff! Trust me most people will not notice that you didn’t give them a favor and the money you will save by skipping all the small stuff will amaze you and no one will miss it!!
My friend just got married a few months ago and she planned the whole thing in about a month and it cost $2500-3000 for about 30 or so guests. She had it at a restaurant in the French Quarter with a great courtyard(http://www.courtoftwosisters.com/). The only flowers she had were for her and her bridesmaid. She had it on a Friday morning around 10 am and all the guests ate from the brunch buffet. She could have reserved the whole courtyard, but that would have cost extra, so she just reserved the whole back portion and the rest of the courtyard had all the other guests at the restaurant. The location was able to provide a space for her to get ready and a jazz trio that was already scheduled to play at that time. The cake was a small two tier cake that they got from a grocery store bakery. Her biggest expense was the food and location. After that she only spent money on the dress($400 at Davids Bridal), flowers ($50 at Whole foods), photographer ($500 who was a friend of the family), cake ($75), officiant.
There were no favors or table decorations or anything like that, and no one noticed. It was one of the most relaxed and fun weddings I’ve ever been to and everyone LOVED it!
My biggest advice is to plan everything out. Budget, budget, budget! and stick to it. When people give you the stink eye if you say you aren’t going to do this or that, just say you would rather spend more money and effort living your life together than spending too much on one day.
The food and venue is always going to be your biggest expense, so make sure to look at some other non traditional spaces. Restaurants, parks, museums all will have spaces that you can rent out and are usually cheaper than traditional wedding venues. Also, don’t forget to ask family and friends if they know anyone who could help out. I got a deal on my catering for my wedding because they were a friend of the family. And my photographer was a friend who did the pictures as our wedding gift. If you can find a venue who will let you bring in your own caterer, it is usually cheaper. Also, Brunch style foods and receptions will be much cheaper, especially because people usually don’t expect alcohol at that time.
Good Luck! and always remember…its the marriage that’s the important part, not the wedding.

have a chinese wedding. You get load of cash instead of another set of microwaves.

You can save thousands by buying worn-once wedding dresses online on eBay. You can also find shoes and veils there too!
Also, instead of booking a big venue, you could book a cute little rotunda at a park and dress it up with white balloons and streamers.
You can save on catering by having your friends and family prepare supermarket foods and bringing it with you. It could even be a big picnic wedding, there’s nothing wrong with that!
Do whatever you like!
I hope you have fun on your big day!

Don’t concern yourself that it is in Australia, ignore that and look into the ideas that they offer.
If you choose to do most of the work yourself, eg invitations, place cards, thank you cards etc you will save a fortune. A tip for the flowers is to use a smaller less trendy florist, they charge about 1/3 of the price for a trendy joint.
Buy yourself a diary to write everything into it, that way you won’t overload as it will all be there in black and white. Always write contact names and numbers down no matter what ok!
Enjoy and have a magical day!

we just pulled off a wedding for 90 people and our budget was 3K ( not including the dress ) we had our wedding here at home ( saved on a venue ) we did our own decorations, all of which were made and not pre-made ( you can save money there ) we chose daisies as our flower as it is one, my favorite flower, and two because they were the cheapest for the time of year ( we ordered 140 stems at 4.75 a bundle, 5 – 7 stems.. each stem has 5 – 7 blooms ) and we had tons left over. we did our own food ( with the help of parents ) we borrowed all the bowls, platters, shaffers, and the white table linens, and old giant ferns, some of the tables ( we rented the rest of the tables and all of the chairs). we bought off brand alcohol and mixers. Hit the Family Dollar, Dollar Tree, Walmart, local craft stores, and your local lowes or home depot for hardware…. make sure you purchase plenty of these… safety pins, florist wire, stick pins and florist tape. Purchase your wedding color ribbon every time it goes on sale… there are great web sites for cheap toulle… order plenty plenty of that!! we went through 4 budles of it, not to mention all the wedding color toulle ( #6 6" spools … and we could have used one more…
here are a couple of links from while we were decorating….

the biggest thing you need to remember is it is one day at of your life. it is so easy to just go with it and get what you want but you have to bring yourself back down to reality. 50 people have a small intimate wedding. I am not sure where you are from but im in australia and im getting married in 12 days our wedding ended up costing $14000 and we did really well we have 72 guests so good luck with spending under $5000. Wishing well is a great idea though to get some of the money back!!!
