Your gold wedding ring
Wedding ring should be something which can keep your sweet memories always alive in your mind. Therefore you can not go simply to a jewelry shop and order a ring for your wedding. You would better know all the details of a wedding ring that you want to buy before buying one. As for example if you want to buy a diamond ring there are lots of things you do not know and before buying the ring you have to know. If you do not your ring may face some unwanted things as you ca not be a loser buying a ring for your wedding. So remember one thing at first settle your mind that what type is yours whether it is a diamond ring or it is a gold ring or it is a platinum ring and then try to know some basic things of that such as how can you understand the proper weight, how can you understand if the diamond is pure or not, is there any guarantee etc. All the information you can have from internet easily. It is only for your safety and as a customer you should have your thing 100%.
Here we will look at some metals what are used in making a wedding ring commonly. Before some years the list was really very tiny but now with the help of technology you can have various types of metals for making your special ring. They are gold, platinum, titanium, tungsten, with precious stone embellishments.
Gold, as a metal is a lovely yellow color. Gold is favorable because it is looking good when it is worn and giving the right shape to it is easy and it is also durable. Pure gold is also very malleable at 24 carats so it is easy to design and shape. However, the best thing about the gold wedding ring is that it is available in different shades, designs and goes well with other metals too.
Now you may not be sure about the factor that which type of gold ring would be perfect for the design you choose. Sometimes it is good to choose a type that is not 24 carat because every design is not suitable for 24c gold. This is because a higher carat that this would make the ring prone to twisting and going out of shape. So ensure that you select a wedding band that is either 14 c or 18 c. Also, the more the proportion of gold the more expensive the wedding rings will be. So, to have a long-lasting wedding ring that suits your budget, select the appropriate carat value. Budget is another important thing that can attract you towards choosing a golden ring comparing platinum or tungsten ring.
Another factor of gold is that it is very easy to wear. There can be some allergic problems but vast number of people uses this without any problem. You can resize this material easily and can give any shape. While buying please ensure that the weight is correct and gold is pure.

What type of gold are you going to use for your wedding ring?
White gold or yellow gold?
I really love white gold and I look pretty good with it no matter what my skin tone is at the time, but during the summer when I am tan, yellow gold looks amazing on me.
And alot of my jewelry is yellow gold. Should your other jewelry match your wedding ring? Like if your ring is one color, should the rest of your jewelry match that same color???
Mine is white gold, because that is all I wear. I am not a fan of yellow gold, so I never buy or wear it. You should go with whatever you like best though…Especially for a wedding ring that you will wear everyday for the rest of your life.

Went with classic yellow gold. Most of my jewellery is as well.
Nah, you don’t have to be matchy-matchy these days….
Only problem with white gold is the rubbing off of the finish, and having to get it redipped.
If he can afford it, go for platinum!

The majority of my jewelry is yellow gold and I don’t like to mix white and yellow so I told my husband to get yellow gold for any jewelry he bought me.

I love jewelry. Always have. I also just got remarried last year. I picked the engagement ring, her wedding band, and mine as well.
I certainly took her likes into the equation and – patting myself on the back. She lover it all.
For her it was white gold and no though both her bands are white gold many of the other things she wears are not. It is fun to be able to change a look for the season or whatever. My band is yellow though for the most part I really love silver best of all.

i wanted white gold but he bought yellow gold he sad that yellow gold is traditional. i think it would look better if your jewelery matched

We’re using yellow gold. It’s more traditional looking.

Mine is two toned- yellow gold bad with white gold settings. It was my grandma’s from about 1948. This was very common back then- it’s called an illusion setting and the white gold is supposed to make the diamond look bigger. I feel like the diamond ‘pops’ more in yellow gold. You also have to be careful- a lot of cheaper chain jeweller rings have diamonds that are like J-k colour in white gold- if you go with white gold you want a whiter diamond or it will look yellowed…

Mine is white gold and my wife’s is platinum.
Yellow gold is more "traditional" but for us, we felt that the silvery tones were more contemporary and more fitting to our personalities and lifestyle.
Also, gold is easier to repair than platinum. Originally we were both going to have platinum but I work with my hands and the jeweler told us that for people who are harder on their rings, gold was better. The nicks and scratches are easier to buff out on gold and much more difficult with platinum as it doesn’t really scratch but sort of furrows and material needs to be smoothed back into the furrow to repair it. The fact that they recommended a ring that was 1/4 the price of the one I wanted lends credence to the integrity of the jeweler and his information.

Oddly enough no one really thinks about a wedding ring matching clothes. I did though, my engagement ring is black and white diamonds and I thought it would clash with other jewelry. I thought I was the only one to think like that. Actually, it’s something you don’t really notice, but I’ve decided to go with a two-tone white and yellow gold ring. My fiance will wear a black tungsten ring. I think yellow/white gold is fine as far as other jewelry because I don’t think people really notice if other jewelry is matching your wedding ring. If you are unsure try to look for two-tone rings. They have some that are mostly silver with a gold streak.

Go with the white gold if you feel comfortable with it.

Hmm….maybe your fiance can get you a ring in each metal?
You may be able to find something that has a combination of yellow and white gold on it.

My engagement ring is white gold and my wedding ring is platinum over sterling silver.
I like to match my jewelry & I also don’t like yellow gold at all so all my jewelry is either silver or white gold (except for a few inherited jewelry items, which I don’t ever wear because I don’t like the yellow gold).
But there are many people who look good in both yellow or white gold and who can mix & match their jewelry and look fine. It really is personal preference.

I’m a fan of white gold…All my jewelry is silver or white gold… I have some gold but not a lot…
It doesn’t matter if your wedding ring matches the rest of your jewelry or not, it’s all in your preference. For me, I don’t like doing it that often… I like to match… But I’m a "matchy-kind of girl"… I’m now trying to get myself out of that, ha ha.

mine will be white gold, and I hope you won’t be tanning for the rest of your life, so I wouldn’t base what metal you get for a ring on that.

I’m going with yellow gold. I am very pale year-round and white gold or platinum looks horrible next to my skin! I also hate how trendy it is! Why follow the rest of the flock when you can be your own person?
Also, with platinum, when it scratches and you have it "buffed," they have to remove a thin layer of the platinum. Why buy a metal that will lose value over time? With gold, the scratches come right out without you worrying about losing any gold!
I don’t think it matters in the long run what color your jewelry is. Trends are constantly evolving and in 20 years, white gold may be totally out of fashion! You never know! Many people look back on jewelry or wedidng pictures and can tell exactly what time period it’s from from the trends of the day!
Whatever you think looks best is what you should choose. Or, you can talk to your fiance and let him choose and let it be a surprise!

My wedding ring is white gold. Most of my gold jewelry is yellow. I like the way my wedding ring stands out against my yellow gold jewelry. My first wedding ring was yellow gold(same husband) I wanted this one to be different.

I dont think you have to match the rest of your jewellery, but it is nice to match your engagement ring and your wedding band.
If yellow gold looks good on you then I say you should go for that.
I am getting yellow gold to match my engagement ring.

I don’t really like yellow gold, so mine is white gold. I don’t really think it matters what your skin tone is or what your other jewelry looks like, just what you prefer. I would say white gold is more of a trend right now, so if you want to be different from what most other people are getting then choose yellow gold.

In your case, I would get both white and yellow. For instance, you can get a yellow gold ring, and a white gold setting. I saw one of these over the weekend and it was beautiful! Plus, you can wear either color jewelry with it.

I have platinum engagement ring but I could not afford platinum for my fiances engagement ring so I went with white gold for him.
We are have designed our own wedding rings and they are platinum too.
Roll on 6th June…..

Yellow gold….the majority of white gold settings today are off color which is why they are rhodium plated-to hide the fact they are not top grade white gold settings. really good white gold is silvery-gray, looks like platinum, and NEVER turns yellow so it never needs plating…..
…..since you can still get very good quality yellow gold I will buy that, unless the white gold is unplated and an estate piece over 30 years old & in excellent condition.
besides, since most of my jewelry is good white gold, platinium or sterling, I want my wedding rings to stand out. Yellow gold is timeless and traditional, and I look good in both.
Edit: I have no trouble mixing metals either….my hubby recently got me a canary set in platinum….next to my plain yellow gold band it pops!

Make the ring special. Let it stand out. over all every thing. that’s the point that your signifying. Let it stand on it’s own. Platinum looks like white gold and it lasts 10,000 years. That’s how long you plan to love him and then some.. Am I right . Don’t get the band to wide because it will cause an irritation under the ring do the sweating. I’m sure that you will want to keep the ring on. His as well. Yours could have a small Diamond embedded. get a matching set.
good luck.

Wow – you have got 23 answers…and I am going to be No 24.
Consider this. The natural color of gold is yellow. "white gold" is in a way artificial due to the other metals contained in the alloy (=mix of metals). If you get 14 K gold only about 58% of the alloy is actually gold.
So if you like yellow go with gold.
If you like a silver-like color, choose silver, or platinum (harder, less likely to tarnish)
If you want to go with gold consider 14 K versus 18 K versus 22 K.
The higher the value, the more gold in the alloy and the softer the metal (dings and scratches will show). I am a jeweler and I like to use 18 K.

yellow gold, and most of my jewelry is too, excepted a ring from mexico, from my abuela (she died in 2000), it’s spanish silver (or is it mexico silver… one of those).
I am allergic to nickel in most (non gold jewelry), I can only wear 14K and up, or stainless/surgical steel. Otherwise it turns my finger (wear the jewelry was) green or red and itchy.
