[BUSINESS LEGAL EXPERTS ONLY] In Brampton, Ontario, Canada, what (if any) permits or licenses do you need…?

…to start a videography business?

I will only be shooting events, birthday parties, small budget weddings, and such. I will be using music that belongs to established artists, but I might be joining a music library or club (where one would pay a monthly subscription fee) to use songs from mainstream artists.

The business will be situated in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), Ontario, Canada.

What do I need to establish my business? There aren’t a lot of resources on the Ontario or even Canada government websites.

You will need to first get your business registered in Ontario.

honey moons???

thx 2 everyone who answered my question on low budget weddings!
got any ideas for a small inexpensive honeymoon?

If you’d like to take a cruise and you don’t really care where you go – www.vacationstogo.com is awesome. If you wait until a couple of weeks before the cruise you can get up to 75% off on a cruise (but waiting that late will make it harder to go on a specific cruise) If you want to be more specific you can book in advance and still save money.

My husband and I used this service to go on a cruise and it was awesome! The only things to keep in mind are that the "shore excursions" cost extra so you’ll need to bring money for those. They range in price from $30 to $150 depending on what it is you’re doing. I wanted to do this one where you got to ride a horse and then actually swim with the horse; unfortunately after we bought the tickets we found out I was pregnant so no horse back riding for me :)

If that’s too much – camping, closest amusement park, etc. You can find cheap deals on line for lots of hotels but before you reserve sometimes you can call the hotel itself, tell them you’re planning your honeymoon, and ask if they offer any specials and just see which is cheapest.

Congrats on the wedding!

My best friend just got engaged and she wants my help with planning a wedding….?

But our budgets are crazy different. My budget is 20,000 and her’s is $5,000 for the whole wedding. Can you have a catered event for under $5,000? She wants a full dinner, drinks and real silverware and plates. She wants to have it somewhere, not in her home or anyone else house. I am trying to help her but I am not sure if it’s do able on her budget. She lives in Rhode Island and it’s kinda pricey around there. Any suggestion or websites for small to low budget weddings?? She wants to be able to have 100-150 people.

She’s going to have to 1.lower her expectiations. 2. cut the guest list to 50. 3.or plan on spending more money. Unforetunately if you tell her just that she’ll think your a hater. So what I would do is call a few places and get price ranges for her. So that way she’ll be able to see for her self.

why put down another woman’s budget for her wedding?

I just have to ask this question. It seems that I get a lot of negetive, nasty comments from other women on here when it comes to wedding things. i.e. wedding budget, etc. I am fortunate enough to have a fiance that is a smart, successful business man who has been wise in his investments. We own 2 houses. He is the one who made the decision to have a large, lavish, elegant wedding. He was kind enough to set a wedding budget of $100k. I’ve never flaunted this around on here like this before, b/c it didn’t seem needed. However, whenever I read comments from other b2b, they seem to feel that only lower-budget weddings matter. I don’t get it. I would never dream of putting anyone down for their budget, wedding choices, or engagement ring. These things are very special to each and every woman…and no one’s is better than the other. Mine included. I simply am a bored housewife (or soon to be wife) who does charity work outside the home, and found it fun to give feedback to ladie’s who had wedding questions on here. But time and again I have gotten "thumbs down" or nasty comments. Perhaps it’s a societal thing, where we as women in general feel the drive to be catty to one another. How sad. If anyone would like to give feedback to this question, please feel free. If anyone just wants to brag about their upcoming wedding, this is the space for you! We should all as b2b be free to jump up and down with excitement about our wedding plans. Me included.
I completely understand, "True". However, like I stated in my question…I never have placed that info before. So that shouldn’t have played a factor before. but good feedback. :)
also, I included the fact that we own houses only b/c I have seen many women state about larger wedding budgets that the b2b should be using that money instead to buy a house. They claim that to spend money on a wedding is just "frivolous".
* as to the lady who stated that I "flaunted" my engagement ring…there was a person who was kind enough to ask if anyone wanted to rave about their rings. a lot of other people did, and I felt that I was just as entitled to do as well. Nothing wrong with that. It’s like I said, EVERYONE should have the chance to be excited about their engagement, wedding, ring, etc. I’ve never put anyone down for doing that. I deserve the same. As far as you stating that I wrote something about my FMIL wanting to go over the top…huh??? never wrote anything of the kind. I would be interested in where that’s coming from. Anywhoo, thank you to those that gave positive energy towards this post. Congrats to everyone! :) And now I am going to work on just being happy about my engagement, instead of feeling guilty about it.

I’ve gotten thumbs downed on a number of my answers relating to financial matters.

A while back there were loads of questions about budget (mine was $20k and has been scaled back to $15k) and also about how much to give when you are a guest (where I’m from $100 is the lower end of the range for a cash gift). And anytime I chimed in with my opinion or what is customary for me, I’d get a few thumbs downs. I’ve also gotten the "it’d be better spent on a house" comments and my fiance & I both own homes. We’re paying for our wedding ourselves, not relying on our parents or families to fork over the money so its really nobody’s business to complain about how we are choosing to spend our money.

And I agree totally with you that nobody ought to be knocking another persons budget. Unfortunately, it happens on here ALOT and there is nobody that can really police the thumbs up and thumbs downs.

can i become a makeup artist without qualifications?

Ive always been good at applying makeup, do all my friends’ on nights out etc, good at shaping eyebrows, done my research and have good sense of what colours suit different skin tones, hair colour etc. To do part-time make up with people for low-budget weddings etc (my area is not the classiest of places, and doesnt have the classiest of people!) do I need to be qualified? If they ask me I would say im not qualified.

I wouldn’t say it’s impossible but you would stand a far greater chance if you were qualified with some experience. Check out the Careers Advice website link (below) on Make-Up Artist.
