does anyone know an affordable banquet hall for a wedding in toronto?

I’m looking for something nice, elegant, but on a budget with the cost of weddings being so high. Any suggestions?

since you didn’t share much information like how many guests and what time of day and how much you are looking to spend, i am including two things here. the first is a wedding chapel in toronto which does everything from a-z and has packages ranging from 199 dollars for just an elopement style wedding to 3000 for the whole treatment with up to about 25 or so guests. this is only for small intimate weddings and inlcudes the ceremony and the reception.

if that doesn’t work for you, since i don’t really have enough info from you to look for anything else, here is a site where you can do your own searching. it is very easy to use and gives about 15 pages of venues for you to check out. http://www.eventsource.ca/venues.aspx

Four weddings? Do you watch it?

It seems obvious to me that the "brides" are always going to rate the other weddings badly because they want to win the honeymoon themselves! And it seems like a totally unlevel playing field in the first place because they don’t have the same budget…

On the "celebrity" 4 weddings (last night) David Van Day spent £50,000! Surely his wedding should of won and been the best seeing his budget was twice that of the others? (More or less!)

At lest on "restaurant in our living room" they both have the SAME budget to start with, surely that makes it more fair?

Who would WANT your wedding be on TV like that anyway? Competing and showing off?

I watch this and to me it is obvious that some people are only going into the competition to show off and not because they cant afford a honeymoon – because there was a women who spent 40,000 on her wedding, she wasnt famous and so it was obvious she could have a honeymoon if she wanted one, she was purely showing off.
I didnt watch the one with this David but to be honest i like how everybody has their own budget because there are some people with a 3,000 budget who really want a honeymoon, competing against a person with a 30,000 who is looking to show off. I’m glad the person with the lower budget sometimes wins because it shows that money doesnt always buy you the best and gives the genuine person without money for a honeymoon the prize they wanted, instead of giving it to the person who could afford it without the show anyway.
For me, i would rather go without a honeymoon than have 3 other (sometimes snobs) criticising my wedding.

I need advice on an affordable external flash for my camera?

I am a portrait and wedding photographer and need a external flash for my camera. I have a canon 40d but will be upgrading to the 7d next year. I intend to get a much better flash at that time but right now I am on a budget and can’t afford to spend hundreds of dollars on a flash. I am looking at the canon 420ex but some are recommending off brand flashes that are a bit lower in price yet they say are just as good or even better than the canon 420ex. I am making my decision at the end of the week and would love some input on flashes. I mainly do weddings so that is my main purpose for the flash right now. I have studio lighting for portrait photography. Thank you in advance for any help. If you have a specific flash you use please state the name and how you feel it works with your canon. Please only put flashes that will work with my canon dslr.

If you’re a portrait/wedding photographer then I would think you’d be using off camera flash in manual mode (ie not TTL).

If so, I’d recommend a Yongnuo 460-MkII (£41 on eBay) plus a set of wireless triggers (Yongnuo RF602 £27 for 1x transmitter + 1x receiver). These work well together for location and studio photography, with appropriate light modifiers

Excellent quality reliability & will work perfectly with Canon. No issues with range as its a radio system not optical.

Wedding Planner- For A Perfect Wedding

When it comes to organizing a wedding, there is so much to do and it can get pretty hectic. It is amazing that so many of them come off without a major crisis. A wedding planner can help take care of a lot of the stress and the details before and during the ceremony. Whether or not the wedding planner is a necessary ingredient to a wedding’s success depends on you and your circumstances.

The wedding planner is usually a person who has had a lot of experience with weddings. They have some insight on how weddings run. The best wedding planners are detail oriented. If you know someone in your immediate group of friends or family who is detailed, they may be the person to depend on to keep things in order and get things done on time. But the planner is not simply a person who does well organizing things. They have to make sure that everything in kept in budget and they also try to resolve issues or tense situations that inevitably creep up without becoming upset.

Because a wedding is full of tradition, many couples find it hard to make it their own special day without going to the other extreme. The wedding planner can help the couple personalize their day and come up with ideas to keep the wedding balanced. Since they work in the business of weddings, they might even know places and have suggestions to help keep costs down.

Weddings are expensive, an average wedding can end up in the thousands of dollars, and wedding planners can cost up to two thousand dollars to hire. If you do need a planner, and you are on a budget consider hiring one with less experience. That way both of you can benefit from the arrangement.
