How much did you spend on your wedding?

I’m getting engaged soon and I’m already planning the wedding!! LOL How much was spent on your wedding? I don’t want anything over the top but I know some people go wild with their wedding budget and I just wanted to know what others have spent. I’m keeping my dress simple, spending more on flowers and the reception. I also really want to have live music at the wedding and not a recording….Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated too! Thanks

I am getting married on April 17th, 2009, so we don’t know 100% yet how much our wedding will cost. So far, we are expecting to spend about $27,000 on a wedding for 80 people in the NYC metro area, including $7,000 on air+hotel for a 2 week honeymoon in Hawaii and Mexico (we are not factoring in what we expect to spend while we’re actually there into the wedding budget). Like boom said, the cost of your wedding will vary greatly depending on the geographical area you are from. In and around NYC, $100 per person catering hall is a bargain (although that includes open bar), whereas somewhere closer to the middle of the country you can find a hall that’s just as nice for $40pp. We decided on a smaller, intimate wedding, in order to be able to afford a better quality wedding. The best way to save on your wedding is to cut the guest list, because that way you can still afford to have the wedding of your dreams with the same budget you would have spread out on a larger quantity of guests.
We are very fortunate to have my parents paying for the majority of the wedding, I think we are only spending about $10,000 ourselves. Just to give you an idea, our photographer is costing $2,500, DJ: $1,200, flowers: $1,300, and my dress + veil + shoes is about $1,200. All in all though, the best advice I can give you is that a smaller guest list will result in fewer overall expenses and a better quality wedding. You will save not only on food and per person prices at the catering hall you choose, but on flowers, favors, invitations, etc, as well. Also, if you are on a budget, try to keep your bridal party small: between the bridal party gifts and paying for their bouquets and boutonnieres, those costs add up as well.

Good luck and congratulations on getting engaged soon! =)

What is/was your wedding budget and plan?

When were you married? Where did you have your ceremony? reception?

What did you serve your guests?

What were your colors? Flowers, fake or real?

My plan was to marry the man I loved and not be bothered with people (relatives) bickering over cost, appearance, what’s proper/what’s not.
- I wanted to enjoy the day and not be stressed over it.
We got married at the court house in a small ceremony, no one but us and the judge. I loved it. All I had to do was concentrate on him and him on me. We had a small cake and champagne after. I wore a cream lace outfit and he had on a brown suit. I had a lovely flower arrangement of pink roses. We took the money that would have gone to the wedding and spent a week in Las Vegas doing everything we wanted to do.
We were married Sept 28, 2007

i am planning to have my wedding in summer. My wedding budget is US 10,000 with a guest list of 75 people.?

How can i plan my wedding within this budget? Please advise
What would suggest to me in order to organise my wedding?

You CAN do this trust me. Our budget was 10,000 with a guest list of 300 and 250 showed up. So believe me you can do it and my wedding was very elegant. Here are some great tips. Can you do your own flowers? My mom made all of our flowers we just picked them out and she arranged them. My sister-in-law made our cake. The only decoration in the church was bows for the reserved seating, three large flower arrangements, and ivy hung at the back of the church around candles (we didn’t light them) We were members of the church. We had friends do the directing, organ, and video so that saved some money. We had a buffet not a sit down meal. We knew our DJ.

The best tip: get people you know to help out. For 75 people that won’t be too hard. Our caterer was 11.00 / plate. So that is about 825 plus tax and anything else you need to add. If you get your caterer to do the cake that cuts down so you don’t have the delivery cost on the cake. I could go on and on for hours at a time on the wedding planning and tips. If you need any more information or have more questions or just want to boast about your wedding shoot me an email at glitter3317@yahoo.com

I’m planning a wedding on a small budget does anybody have money saving suggestions?

We want to have it outside and in the summer.

Know your resources for everything. Favors…look into making your own…fudge, cookies, brownies, candies….you can get boxes to decorate or of your wedding color at Michael’s or any craft store.
Centerpieces…also, look into making them as well…candles with flowers placed around them….anything you want really.
For the food…you may ask someone (ie…the best man…fathers) to be the grill man and have a BBQ since it will be outside in the summer.
I am getting my dress and cake as gifts. Maybe you know someone who can help you with these things or…hit the sales. David’s Bridal is always having sales.
You could also have your family or friends help you with making the favors should you chose to go that route.
Things you will probably not want to cut short: photographer…He takes care of all of the memories you will have! You may ask around for a photographer student. They will be willing to do it for the experience and will not charge as much.
Flowers can be expensive…It really depends on what kind though.
Hope this helped a little!
Good luck and happy planning!

what flowers are in season during the month of september? Planning a wedding on a budget…?

Any good florist will be able to tell you that. I know carnations, roses, and most greens (ferns, ivy, baby’s breath) are always in season. I would go with carnations, very inexpensive and can be turned any color you want
