How do wedding receptions go?

Please I need help! My fiancee and I are planning a wedding on a budget and I’m doing this mostly on my own. What usually happens at the wedding reception? I had sort of thought about not dancing, not doing a first dance at all, but I think I want to. I know I will not do the guarder toss but I would like to throw the bouquet and dance with my new husband and my sister who is the maid of honor would like to write a toast. So how does this go? In which order? Thanks so much!!!!!

1- cocktail hour
2- receiving line (optional)
3. 1st dance, parents dance etc.
4. dinner
5. toast and speeches
6. cutting of the cake
7, dancing
8. bouquet toss and GARTER tos9
9. last dance

Good luck

Wedding Planning???

I’m not getting married for almost 2 years, but I’m horrible at planning things. I don’t have the money to hire a wedding planner bc I have a small budget. I know 2 years is a long time, but when should I start looking for dresses, venues, food? When is a good time to start the actual planning? I have no clue!!

Ha! Two years is a long time…but not in the wedding planning world. You’re in a perfect position to start planning your wedding right now. And I think that if you plan one thing every month you’ll find that it is actually more fun to plan for your big day.

Start with your ceremony and reception locations. They are typically the hardest to reserve. After that move to the photographer and wedding dress. Then wedding party attire. Create a free account on WeddingChannel.com or TheKnot.com and check out their wedding check list. It’ll give you the guidelines of what to do in different time frames.

Congrats on your engagement and good luck! Remember….have fun planning…it’s such an important day and you’ll want to enjoy it to the fullest!

How much will it cost for a low cost budget wedding evening buffet?

hi, i’m getting married in november and a family member has offered to do the buffet at the evening reception for 120 people. Its going to be a cold buffet. the usual, sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls etc. I need an idea of how much its going to cost please. we have a very low budget so don’t want to be spending hundreds of pounds :) whats the cheapest we could do it?

I can’t help you, but what I will say is that I am looking to do EXACTLY what you are doing!
So if i do come across any ideas, I’l be sure to let you know.

Would you hire a wedding planner?

I’m in the process of becoming a wedding planner. I just started and already I have 2 weddings however I am doing both of them for free because I don’t have experience yet and I need it, and they are my bfs friends. I think I have a really good shot at this being as I live in Victoria B.C which is pretty busy with weddings. But since I haven’t charged anyone yet I’m not sure if a lot of people would be willing to pay for one? And if so, what would you be willing to pay?
I’m thinking of charging about $1500 for a full year of planning and being on site that day. Does that sound like to much or not enough? It takes up A LOT of time and gas so I think that’s a reasonable price.

I think it is a good idea as long as you like to do that kind of work. And I know it is a full time job!! If I were you I would do some research and find out how much other people are charging and maybe under bid them for a while until you get a few jobs done and get some references.Hope everything works out for you.Good Luck and God Bless!!

I feel so overwhelmed with my wedding planning?

I have only been engaged for a couple of days and I am already totally overwhelmed. No one is putting any pressure on my I am totally doing it myself. My problem is that I have no idea how to plan a wedding and I have a very small budget. I want to it to be beautiful and unique, but I don’t know how to make this happen. There is no way that I could afford a wedding planner.

Go to www.weddingchannel.com and click on some of the items in the left side bar. I used this site and set up a web page, and kept track of everything here. It has a budget manager, a guest list tracker, I was even able to choose who sat at which table. There is also a lot of information on this site that may help you. Remember, you can search the web for just about anything now days. I hope this website helps you as much as it did me. I’ve also seen a lot of people telling others about www.theknot.com, but I’ve never used that site. Relax, sweetie, everything will turn out great. Be sure to check out the planning checklist. It tells you what you need to do by when. Good luck!
