I forgot to include hair/make up trials. Getting my nails done. And a few small things like that. I’d suggest having an extra 500-800 available to use the week of the wedding. If you don’t need it, then you can spend it on honeymoon

It seems obvious to me that the "brides" are always going to rate the other weddings badly because they want to win the honeymoon themselves! And it seems like a totally unlevel playing field in the first place because they don’t have the same budget…

On the "celebrity" 4 weddings (last night) David Van Day spent £50,000! Surely his wedding should of won and been the best seeing his budget was twice that of the others? (More or less!)

At lest on "restaurant in our living room" they both have the SAME budget to start with, surely that makes it more fair?

Who would WANT your wedding be on TV like that anyway? Competing and showing off?

I watch this and to me it is obvious that some people are only going into the competition to show off and not because they cant afford a honeymoon – because there was a women who spent 40,000 on her wedding, she wasnt famous and so it was obvious she could have a honeymoon if she wanted one, she was purely showing off.
I didnt watch the one with this David but to be honest i like how everybody has their own budget because there are some people with a 3,000 budget who really want a honeymoon, competing against a person with a 30,000 who is looking to show off. I’m glad the person with the lower budget sometimes wins because it shows that money doesnt always buy you the best and gives the genuine person without money for a honeymoon the prize they wanted, instead of giving it to the person who could afford it without the show anyway.
For me, i would rather go without a honeymoon than have 3 other (sometimes snobs) criticising my wedding.

I just got engaged 2 weeks ago. My fiance and i have a house and daughter and plan to get married in August this year. I need any tips on planning a wedding on a budget. Very small budget!!! Please help. I live in Rhode Island! Thanks!!!!

Weddings are expensive if you want them to be. But if you want to keep money aside for a deposit on a house or a honeymoon to remember, then there are many cost cutting ideas. All you need is a little imagination, and some help from friends and family and you too can have a luxury wedding with all the trimmings.

Ever since I met my boyfriend, he thinks weddings are a waste of money just for a one day. My family is paying 50%, and agreed on his parents they pay the other 50%. THE PARENTS ARE PAYING! I want this to be a beautiful day for both of us! I dont know many people whose parents pay for their weddings. He wants a small party, without the walk, dress (i dont)
I want a normal weddings, i want a dress, i want to walk down the ile, i want to exchange rings, etc
I dont mind having a party like he wants to, but I want an actually weddings! (we dont have a tight budget).
How could I make him change his mind?

You can’t make him change his mind but you can make him understand how important it is to you. Marriage is about compromise and he needs to understand that this is something that you really want, and it sounds like even the parents want it. Hopefully he can be happy with it knowing how happy it will make you. And maybe you can let him pick where to go on the honeymoon!

I feel as though my fiance is being too uptight with his money and it’s really making me feel very uncomfortable. I understand he wants to save it for our first home & so do I. But this is our first wedding and he’s really uptight with the budget and planning. He doesn’t even wants to have a videographer and he basically wants to do everything on his own. Such as the photography, videography, cake, flowers, etc. I tried to compromise by making the flower on our own but he keeps complaining how much this wedding is costing him. My parent is willing to pay for the videographer and his parent is willing to pay for the photographer but he seems to keep complaining how much this wedding is costing him even when people are offering to help out. I asked if he really wants to get married to me and he said "YES" but sometimes I feel like I don’t want to get married to him because I can’t stand it anymore . The wedding is no more than 25K.
What should I do? I told him how I feel already.

My wedding was 12,000.00 it was a lot for me.But I paid for almost everything. It was a whole year of savings.
I know that weddings here in US can be very expensive. that’s why I got married in PR.

I think that 25,000.00 is a fair amount of money for a nice wedding in US. So you should talk to him about it. And let him know that’s is just that expensive, that you are working on try to find the best deals, but is still going to cost money. I know that for man is hard to understand how much money you need to spend to have a nice wedding.

If you and your fiancee have the money to pay for the wedding and for the house it shouldn’t be a problem.

Now if you guys are in a tight budget I think owning a home should be your priority.
My husband and I bought our condo 1 month before the wedding and we just came from our honeymoon and we are starting to calculate how much money we need to fix and buy things for the house and believe me you need a lot of money to make the house cozy. So we re still working on that.

So be wise and make the right choices!!!
